FAQ’s
1. I have never worked out before and/or I have injuries and/or I am extremely overweight. Can I still join the boot camp?
Farmington Valley Boot Camp specializes in providing challenging workouts for people at any level and at the same time. A 60 year old with joint dysfunction can work side by side with a 20 year old athlete in the same group and both will be challenged at their own fitness level. Our members are expected to give 110% at their given fitness level. In each session we show progressions and regressions for each exercise to allow for these different levels to operate to their maximum potential in the same environment.
2. Will I experience muscle soreness?
Yes, the initial phase of adding High Intensity Strength Training into your exercise program will cause some muscle soreness. During our initial New Trial Member Orientation we cover, in thorough explanation, the proper warm-up and cool down methods for our boot campers that include self-massage and corrective stretching strategies. These strategies are to be performed before and after every session that will help your body recover from these intense workouts. Each session takes our clients out of their past exercise “comfort zone” which will lead to increased muscle soreness.
3. How soon will I see results?
Your results will vary on your commitment to your nutrition program, 80-90% of your success will be determined by your nutrition. Clients can feel great results in as short as 1 week and see visual changes in a few weeks. In order to see maximal results you will need to adhere to your nutritional program and attend all workouts.
4. Is there a nutrition program involved?
Yes, the number one most important component of any weight loss program is NUTRITION. “YOU CAN’T OUT TRAIN A BAD DIET!” We provide all clients with our tried and proven Nutrition Program upon joining. Clients also gain access to our monthly Grocery Trip/Kitchen Makeover at Big Y Supermarket in Avon, CT on the 2nd Sunday of every phase of camp as well as our Nutrition Seminar at Tyler English Fitness immediately following. (Dates are subject to change). This is an integral part of our client’s success, as we will provide you with the proper tools to get started on the right track towards creating your new healthy lifestyle. We also provide you with quick-start guides and cookbooks for your gender with delicious recipes that help burn body fat. You will also be given different options where we can provide more social support through our Maximize Your Metabolism 12 Week Nutritional Coaching Class, for those who feel they need the added accountability and support. Clients who do not adhere to the Nutritional Component of our program will not be tolerated. Each and every member of Farmington Valley Fitness Boot Camp is expected to create a healthy clean eating lifestyle.
5. Isn’t cardio better for fat burning?
Cardio can be an important part of a fat loss program. Without the components of Nutrition and High Intensity Strength Training you will not build lean muscle or increase your metabolism. Our goal for each client is to turn your body into a fat burning machine. Our clients see rapid results in as little as 2-3 boot camp sessions per week while following our tried and proven nutrition program. We provide every client with a metabolic boosting cardio program.
6. In the Boot Camp sessions will I get enough individual attention?
Yes, you will get all the motivation, guidance, instruction and support that you need. Every session has time at the end to handle individual Q & A. We are ALWAYS here to answer any questions or concerns about anything relating to our clients training, nutrition, or supplementation. Most one-on-one personal training sessions consist of the trainer and client just spending most of the time talking about their personal lives and the trainer wastes even more time counting reps. We don’t waste your time so don’t waste ours.
7. What do I bring to camp?
We do provide equipment for campers. For your first session please bring an oversized towel and/or yoga mat, sweat towel, and water.
8. What do I wear to the boot camps?
Wear comfortable, soft, breathable materials. Avoid anything too baggy, as it makes it difficult to properly analyze your posture and positioning during exercise.
9. How long do your boot camps run?
Our boot camps operate in phases that run 3 weeks on followed by 1 week of an “off” week or recovery period. This format is scientifically proven to maximize training results while providing for the necessary pre-planned mental and physical regeneration for long-term success and injury prevention. The sole exception to this format is a 2-week end of year break during the busy and stressful Holiday season to provide complete recovery from a solid year of training. Members also have the membership option of recovery week gym access for continued success during the regeneration period.
10. Why do you recommend training barefoot?
Before the invention of overpriced sneakers and running shoes there were no muscular imbalances, low back issues, or overuse injuries. The sneakers you wear are developed with some form of a heel lift. This heel lift puts undo pressure on your ankles, calves, knees, hips, and increases tension placed on your lumbar region. This can lead to ankle sprains, ligament tears, overused hip flexors and low back injuries. Many ankle, knee and low back issues can be associated with weakness in your glutes. Training barefoot allows you to properly activate your glutes and allow for better stabilization of your lower extremity. The result is increased use of muscles increased strength, and injury prevention. Many of our clients will tell you past knee, back and postural issues have improved in only a few weeks of training barefoot. Our members choose between training barefoot, with flat soled sneakers like Chuck Taylors or they choose to wear Vibram Five Fingers
11. How do I join?
Your opportunity to join Farmington Valley Fitness Boot Camp is entirely dependent on your ability to prove to us and our instructors that you belong as an elite member of our program. At Tyler English Fitness nothing less than 110% is expected from each and every member. Clients are expected to commit to the daily rigors of intense exercise, nutritional planning and sound recovery. When and IF you prove this commitment during your initial 2 weeks you will be given the option to join our elite fitness program.
12. How much does it cost?
Our trial members will make the decision to either commit, commit longer, or to not commit. Our members pay as little as $9 per session to as much $33 depending upon their length of commitment, level of commitment and level of support. This is paid in a monthly fee that can range from $127 to $497 per month.
In some instances our trial members are not given the option to join, as they are just not right for our program.
